Widespread Electrical Sales is an innovative, new company in an aging industry. Their outside the box thinking and fresh ideas have quickly made them a big player in the marketplace dominated by old school titans. Founder Scott Vaughn has brilliantly led this start-up from his garage in 2008 to the impressive new Denver facility (featured above) with his foresight and vision. He has created a workplace atmosphere the likes of Google or New Belgium Brewing, a place where the team is excited to come to work and make a difference. Vaughn has used unorthodox methods to generate the copacetic setting, like central stereo throughout the facility with multiple interface stations allowing all to have a choice in the song selection, an incredible art collection displayed throughout the building creating a stimulating visual environment, and a skate park integrated into the impressive employee lounge area. The effects are obvious on the staff and the vibe is electric, with each member excited about a different facet of the inner working of the company. The sum total of all this has created a place where every person involved is excited about the future, and that has created a force to be reckoned with in the market place.

I was asked to come down and capture some of the magic at Widespread Electrical Sales with my camera. First order of business was to properly shoot the gorgeous building and all its art and top-quality craftsmanship. The video featured at the top of the page is a walk through of the facility using my architectural photos compiled with musical accompaniment in a simple video they can use for marketing purposes.
My next target was to shoot the staff, both traditionally and in their daily environment…what a fun loving group of people to capture.
And finally I was also asked to cover their grand opening celebration that spanned 2 days. The first day felt like an employee appreciation outing, taking the whole Widespread family in two massive limousines to Coors Field for a baseball game where they really got to enjoy each other and unwind, a brilliant move that more employers should learn from. Day two was the official grand opening to the public, hosting 300+ guest to entertainment by two bands, a DJ, and famed performance artist, Scramble Campbell. It was the best grand opening I have ever attended, so please check out the images below and try not to be jealous you missed the party.
